At This Is My Education (TIME) we believe that all students have the ability to reach their full potential when given the correct bespoke support that they require. All learning pathways are individualised to encourage engagement and motivation for the mandatory and vocational educational pathways which will allow all of our students to achieve their individual outcomes.
Our intent for each student is to inspire and re-engage in learning. We have created an environment that invites all to reflect on their true potential within a nurturing educational community. Each subject area includes enriching experiences to support the curriculum. Our curriculum aims to inspire young people to learn and positively engage in their educational journey through to their Post-16 opportunities.
Accreditations
At TIME (This Is My Education) we offer GCSEs in a range of subjects including Maths and English. We are accredited with Open Awards and are committed to delivering accredited Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. TIME students can work towards a Level 1 Skills For Further Learning and Employment RQF Accredited Programme. This programme is designed to allow and enhance cross provision education, which enables all students to experience and develop a wide range of vocational skills across all provisions. In addition to this, we also offer AQA short courses and Acess to HE routes.
Implementation
We have 6 periods a day which are each 45-50 minutes long. Our curriculum offer is flexible and is adapted to individual need. Our students may have different starting points, so our staff are skilled in accommodating this, focusing on specific aspects of subjects that each student may be struggling with. This is vital when supporting students to progress through our individualised curriculum.
Learning
We base our principles on nurture so there is a focus on understanding behaviour, improving communication and developing self-esteem. We offer small teaching groups in a safe and supportive space in which our students can thrive.
Wellbeing
We have created a close-knit family atmosphere with staff supporting students throughout the school day. PSHE is an integral part of our curriculum and is reflective of the issues that young people face today. We work with a variety of agencies to support the emotional, social and mental wellbeing of our students.
Post 16
We focus on careers primarily in Year 11 with 1:1 meetings with students each term. The majority of our students are on a mixed package with us and will access one of our alternative providers on a more vocational route. Our Careers Policy is guided by Gatsby Benchmarks.
Our curriculum includes many social, moral and cultural opportunities for learning. We have an enrichment programme offering a range of team building opportunities.
Impact
Our aim is to re-engage students with education in order to increase their opportunities at Post 16. We work with some of the most disengaged young people in the St Helens borough and surrounding areas. We are proud to see how they develop with us, improving their resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
Student progress is recorded and learning is planned around their individually identified next steps. In lessons, our students collaborate and support each other. The qualifications that students achieve allow us to assess the impact of our provision. For example, participating in exams demonstrates a student’s commitment to learning and their ability to work independently when completing these exams.
We provide access to the National Curriculum and a range of external examinations are offered at a variety of levels including GCSE, AQA, Functional Skills, and other vocational awards that are recognised nationwide by employers and colleges.
